Basic sanitary facilities and clean drinking water number among the most important conditions for leading a life with dignity. To that end, Geberit is committed to aid projects around the globe so that more people will have access to clean water. In India, for example, apprentices from Germany, Switzerland and Austria participated in a local project there.
Children from kindergarten age to 14 attend the Pentakatha School in Puri, founded by the Swiss Usthi Foundation. The children are from the nearby fishing village of Pentakatha, a cluster of over 5000 bamboo huts.
In cooperation with a local construction company and the Swiss Usthi Foundation, Geberit built a new sanitary facility with toilets, wash basins and showers for girls and boys.
Following social-aid projects in Cambodia, Indonesia, Ecuador and the Solomon Islands, Project India is a further milestone on the road to Geberit’s Vision: We wish to make a sustainable contribution to improving the quality of life.
