Turning Ideas into the Future
Young talents for clean water worldwide
With Geberit’s support, young people around the world are developing solutions for clean water. The “Youth Water Challenge” shows how ideas can turn into tangible change.
A remote village in Nepal that runs out of water during the dry season – until young engineers design a system to collect rainwater and refill the local reservoir. In Ghana, students repair old wells and equip them with solar-powered pumps, bringing clean water back to entire communities. In Switzerland, a team turns a retention basin into a floating garden – a place that filters water, supports biodiversity and brings people together.
Seven projects, one goal
These three initiatives are among the seven winning projects of the Youth Water Challenge 2025. Over 30 teams from around the world – from Côte d’Ivoire to the Philippines – submitted their ideas. The jury selected projects that combine local knowledge, innovative technology and community spirit to sustainably improve access to clean water.
Together for clean water
The Challenge is organised by Swiss Water Partnership Youth and VSA Young Professionals. Geberit has supported the competition financially since its inception in 2020. This enables young people to turn their visions into concrete results – from prototypes and school projects to lasting infrastructure.
The Swiss Water Partnership
The Swiss Water Partnership is a network of more than 70 Swiss organisations from business, research, NGOs and public institutions. Its goal is to promote innovative solutions to global water challenges and share expertise on sustainable water management worldwide.

Impact that lasts
The impact of previous years’ projects speaks for itself: In Rwanda, up to 3,000 litres of greywater are purified every day. In Ghana, a four-hectare wetland was created through local biochar production. And on Lake Kivu between Rwanda and Congo, volunteers collected over a ton of plastic waste – creating new income opportunities and cleaner shores.
The Youth Water Challenge is much more than a competition – it’s a movement. And Geberit helps ensure that young ideas can create a sustainable future worldwide.
