A glowing light box
Mieczyslaw Karlowicz Philharmonic Hall, Szczecin (PL)
Named after the Polish composer Mieczyslaw Karlowicz and designed by the architects Fabrizio Barozzi and Alberto Veiga, the new philharmonic hall in Szczecin glows outwards in a subtle milky white tone through translucent glass panels. The striking roof structure is strongly reminiscent of the city’s steep roofs. The large symphony hall is covered in gold leaf, while the chamber hall is black like the night sky – hence their respective names Sun Hall and Moon Hall.
