Donation with impact
700 washbasins for Ukraine
Geberit is supporting Ukraine with a donation of 700 washbasins from its production plant in Ekenäs, Finland. The ceramic units will be installed in approximately 25 Ukrainian schools in urgent need of renovation.
“As a Ukrainian, this initiative makes me proud.” With these words, Volodymyr Romanenko, Managing Director of the Geberit production company in Ekenäs, Finland, expresses his delight at the latest aid campaign. Almost exactly three years after the start of the war in Ukraine, Geberit is sending around 700 discarded IDO washbasins from Finland to Ukrainian schools in urgent need of renovation.
A donation with an impact
The donation has a double impact: it improves the hygienic conditions in more than 25 schools. At the same time, it creates valuable learning opportunities for budding plumbers. The plan is for the washbasins to be installed by Ukrainian trainee plumbers. “With this donation, we are helping in a very tangible way,” explains Kim Lövkvist, Managing Director of the Finnish sales company. “Many thanks to our colleagues in Ukraine who organized everything on site.”
More than aid
Behind the donation is a long-standing partnership between Geberit, the Ukrainian Ministry of Education and the Swiss foundation Swisscontact. For over ten years, the three partners have been committed to improving future prospects for young people in Ukraine through quality vocational education. In 2024 alone, around 480 Ukrainians completed their training as sanitary technicians.
