Learn, grow, stay

Always accompanied by Geberit

Training, internship, studies and management position – Geberit has always been a reliable constant in Stefanie Giger's professional life.

Career paths rarely follow a straight line. But for Stefanie Giger, Geberit remained a reliable constant throughout her education and training.

The appeal of the unknown
After completing her regular schooling, Stefanie Giger looked for a suitable apprenticeship. She found what she was looking for at Geberit and began a four-year apprenticeship as a design engineer at the company’s headquarters in Rapperswil-Jona in 2009.
After completing her apprenticeship, she applied for an internal position and wanted to complete a six-month internship as a design engineer abroad. She didn't know where yet. ‘I don't really like surprises,’ says the 32-year-old. But the idea of getting to know a foreign country appealed to her.

An eye for the big picture
The internship took her to the Geberit production plant in Shanghai, where she was involved in product development. ‘It was an amazing experience.’ But she soon realised that instead of technical details, she was increasingly interested in the bigger picture and the overarching processes. ‘I wanted to understand the big picture.’

Back in Switzerland, Stefanie Giger decided to study industrial engineering at the OST University of Applied Sciences in Rapperswil. “I learned to develop methodological skills and think in a networked way.” Geberit supported her with a scholarship agreement that enabled her to remain employed at the company during and after her studies.

After completing her master's degree, she returned to Geberit as a project manager. She worked in this role for almost five years before taking on a management position as Head of Projects at Geberit Apparate AG at the end of 2024, where the technical units for shower toilets are assembled, among other things. Her team includes project managers, production engineers and logistics administration staff. “I have always felt comfortable and supported at Geberit. The doors are always open.”
