Geberit FlowFit’s wave of success

Capacity expansion in Rapperswil-Jona (CH)

The demand for Geberit FlowFit is constantly increasing. Geberit is responding: Production capacity has now been significantly increased.

Simple and efficient installation meets outstanding hydraulics: the Geberit FlowFit supply system, which was launched on the market in 2021, has established itself in Europe in a very short space of time. And demand continues to grow.

This is also reflected in production. Geberit FlowFit plastic fittings are manufactured exclusively at the production plant at Geberit's headquarters in Rapperswil-Jona. Capacity has more than doubled since the system was introduced.

Flexible thanks to four indexable insert machines
“This upward trend has been clearly felt by us all,” says Herbert Löffler, Project Manager in production. A second turning plate machine was then required shortly after the launch of the system – this figure has grown to four in the meantime. The machines are used to manufacture the more demanding fittings, such as bends or T-pieces, in a special procedure. First, just over two-thirds of the fitting body are injection moulded, but a window is left open. After a turning manoeuvre, the opening is moulded in a second tool. This procedure allows for a flow-optimised inner contour.

“These machines require two tools at the same time during the injection moulding process. They are more complex, and are almost 50 percent longer and heavier than normal injection moulding machines as a result,” says Herbert Löffler. The four machines are not yet running at full capacity. “But they do offer a lot of flexibility.”

Ready for the future
Geberit has also long since upgraded its other systems, such as the mobile assembly modules - and will keep on doing so. This means that the demand for Geberit FlowFit can continue to grow unabated. The capacities are available in production. “We are ready.“

Produced with green electricity

Geberit obtains all of the electricity at its Rapperswil-Jona (CH) and Givisiez (CH) sites, where the fittings and pipes are produced, from renewable energy sources. The green electricity with a guarantee of origin comes 100% from hydropower. Unlike fossil fuels, hydropower does not produce any direct greenhouse gas emissions.
