Kraljevo’s Schools

Social Project Serbia

In 2010, a severe earthquake damaged large sections of the city of Kraljevo, which is located in central Serbia. Many schools were also affected by the earthquake.

Parts of school buildings had to be closed in the wake of the severe 2010 earthquake. The condition of the school system infrastructure in Kraljevo was already critical before the earthquake due to an influx of refugees into the region in the 1990s during the war in Yugoslavia. The earthquake only aggravated the situation. Many schools had to now tackle the renovation of their buildings as a matter of urgency, including two primary schools with over 2,000 pupils and 120 teachers.

On the spot
In 2011, Geberit planned and carried out the renovation and provided new fittings for the sanitary facilities in the form of 20 toilets, 11 urinals and 18 washbasins. Together with local authorities and a planning partner, colleagues in Serbia moved the project forward, and the Geberit team of dedicated apprentices from various Geberit locations took care of the renovation work.
