Reaching new heights

Brooklyn Tower, New York City (US)

In the Brooklyn Tower, a super-slim skyscraper in New York City, living space is at a premium and expensive. Space-saving solutions are particularly in demand here – including in the bathrooms of the approximately 550 apartments.

To those familiar with the Lord of the Rings trilogy, it may resemble Sauron's Tower. However, this super-sleek skyscraper is not in the realm of evil, but in New York City. At 325 metres high, the Brooklyn Tower is the tallest building in the borough of the same name and one of the tallest buildings in the city.

A bank as inspiration
The Brooklyn Tower, completed in 2024, is directly adjacent to the listed Dime Savings Bank of Brooklyn, which was built in 1908. This became the central inspiration for the architecture of the new building. The hexagonal floor plan corresponds to that of the bank. The material language has also been adopted: white marble at the bottom, with a mix of stainless steel, bronze and copper used on the upper floors. The overall impression is one of homage to the classic Art Deco skyscrapers of New York City.

Basketball court included
The 93 floors of the Brooklyn Tower offer space for 550 condominiums and rental apartments, as well as leisure facilities, event rooms and retail space. The 66th floor features the ‘Sky Park’ with children's playgrounds and a basketball court, while the 85th floor is home to the ‘Sky Lounge’ with various bars and an outdoor fireplace with a panoramic view of New York City.

Saving space with Geberit
Average prices per square metre for residential properties in New York City are among the highest in the world. As a result, space-saving solutions were a priority in the construction of the Brooklyn Tower – including in the bathrooms. ‘Geberit Omega30 concealed cisterns and Omega30 actuator plates were installed in all bathrooms. The challenge was to position the wall-hung toilet with maximum aesthetic effect under a large mirror that extends across the entire back wall,’ says Jaclyn DeRugeriis, Geberit Sales Manager on the US East Coast. As a result, the residents of Brooklyn Tower can enjoy a bathroom that is both aesthetic and spacious.

Installed in all 550 apartments: Geberit Omega30 concealed cisterns and Geberit Omega30 actuator plates.
