Slovakian with forward momentum

Many stations of a marketing manager

She never really wanted to live anywhere other than Slovakia. But CRM manager Zuzana Budacova's life took a different direction.

She loves the folk lifestyle. She sang in a traditional Slovakian women's choir, likes the country's traditional food, the celebrations and the clothes. And a few years ago she decided: “I won't leave Slovakia again, except for holidays.“
Today she lives in Switzerland. Zuzana Budacova works in marketing at the Geberit Group's headquarters in Rapperswil-Jona (CH) and is responsible for customer care, or CRM (Customer Relationship Management) for short. That sounds like a break with her convictions, but that is not the case.

New start in England
“It's about moving forward, developing,“ says Zuzana Budacova. That is her greatest driving force. Even back then, when she gave up a secure job in Bratislava to start an uncertain future in England. She initially worked in a restaurant there, because she realised: “You can't expect to start on the podium straight away when you arrive in a new country .“ After a few months, she moved to London and found a position in marketing; without much previous experience. Parallel to her job, she studied garden design in London.

She did the job for a good seven years and completed her studies at the same time. Then she got homesick and went back home. Her new employer: the Geberit sales company in Bratislava. She took over B2C marketing and was responsible for campaigns, CRM, exhibitions and events.

“I can just apply for a job“
This was the moment when she decided to stay in Slovakia for the rest of her life. She began studying marketing and communication and worked as a marketing manager for a good two and a half years.

But once again driven by the urge to get ahead, she applied for a job as global CRM manager at Geberit's headquarters in Switzerland. “I thought, I can just give it a try.“ The rest is history. She left Slovakia again at the end of 2022 - and now feels right at home in Switzerland. She loves rösti, spaetzle and the people. “Life is constantly changing,“ she says. “I just do what I have to in order to get ahead.“
