A close look at Geberit Mepla production

he Geberit Mepla supply system is appreciated by plumbers and sanitary engineers across the whole of Europe. This is not just due to it being easy to process – quality also plays a key role in the Mepla system.

It has been more than 30 years since the Mepla multilayer pipes and fittings were launched. This has by no means diminished its popularity among plumbers and sanitary engineers. This is due, on the one hand, to the high quality and material characteristics of the piping system, which is suited for use both as drinking water pipes and in heating systems, and, on the other hand, to the fact that it is easy to process using pressing technology, which ensures a permanently tight pressing of the fittings.

«Our laboratory is equipped with all the equipment necessary to carry out comprehensive quality control testing on our products.»
Vincent Papaux, Managing Director of Geberit Fabrication SA

Quality is the top priority
The system has always been produced in two Swiss locations – Givisiez and Rapperswil-Jona. The technical expertise required to manufacture multilayer pipes and fittings has been continuously built up in the Geberit plants over several decades. Four materials are used in the manufacture of multilayer pipes – plastic granules, aluminium and two types of bonding agents. The manufacturing process itself requires a high level of precision to be exercised in every single production step. This also holds true for the production of the plastic fittings, which are manufactured in an injection moulding process. As a result, products of both plants undergo regular quality tests, which are carried out within the operational production facilities and in the in-house laboratories. In this way, the smallest defect is identified and rectified immediately.
