Urinal installation in record time

Revised Renova series put to the test

New models are being added to the well-known Renova urinal series. Even before the launch, plumber Tim Kirchner is putting them to the test in Linorf (DE): Do the new urinals live up to their promises?

“The king is dead, long live the king!” Roman Flepp laughs and says: “Our Renova urinals are not about the continuity of the French monarchy, but they are about continuity.” In some cases, the old Aller, Corso and Centaurus urinals had been around for over 40 years. Roman Flepp, Product Manager International for urinals and his colleagues at Geberit are now sending them into well-deserved retirement. The old models are being replaced by new urinals from the well-known Renova series. “It was important for us not “only” to renew the range, but also to bring real innovation to the entry-level segment.”

Rimless, timelessly elegant, optimised flush performance, easy to install – and compatible with old installations: An interdisciplinary development team consisting of plastics professionals from Rapperswil-Jona (CH) and ceramics professionals from Koło (PL) spent many months working on the perfect urinal. Do the new urinals live up to Geberit’s promises?

Installation put to the test
Plumber Tim Kirchner has taken on the task of replacing eleven outdated Aller urinals. With his small business, he provides sanitary and heating services in the Ratingen area near Düsseldorf (DE). His assignment takes him to the Geberit logistics site in Lintorf, where he is not only a plumber, but also a “first tester”.

Bucket under the old urinal, remove the actuator plate, turn off the water, loosen the fastening screws, lift off the ceramic appliance, then remove the old silicone seals with the cutter. “I’m curious how easy it is to install the new urinals”, says Tim Kirchner. Less than ten minutes later, the Renova M is on the wall. The inlet connection piece also fits. “Wow, that was really quick!”

Excellent flushing, no dripping
The major innovation is the newly developed flush guide. The highlight: When the flush is actuated, the outflowing water in the guide opens a flap and is directed evenly into the ceramic appliance. When the water pressure drops, the flap closes again, tightly sealing the flush guide. The result: no dripping water, fewer limescale deposits. “A thorough flush is even possible with just 0.5 litres of water if urinal flush controls from Geberit are used and the flush time is reduced”, explains Roman Flepp.

Tim Kirchner’s verdict: “I’ve installed a lot of urinals, but this is one of the quickest.”
