An elaborate twist
Raffles City, Hangzhou (CN)
With Raffles City, the architects created a central meeting place in Hangzhou that boasts an expansive floor area of almost 400,000 m² and is divided up into hotel, office and store space, plus apartments. The two 250-metre-high towers feature an elaborate twist. However, the twisting of the buildings is much more than just pure aesthetics – combined with the positioning of the towers, it optimises ventilation and allows daylight to be utilised to the full.
