Design of silence
Museum of the Second World War, Gdansk (PL)
A «silent design» is what Kwadrat Architects call their creation, a place for emotion and reflection, where the everyday experience of people during World War II is bestowed a special place. The building programme is of a symbolic nature: The underground level hosts the past, while the space around the building is reserved for the present. The future, ultimately, is represented by a rising protrusion that culminates in a viewing platform.
