In the dry dock
The Danish Maritime Museum, Helsingør (DK)
The architects from Bjarke Ingels Group had to comply with the stipulation not to block the view of Kronborg Castle with the museum building. As a result, they had no choice but to build downwards and construct the maritime museum in a disused dry dock. As part of the conversion, the dock wall was uncovered and the dry dock left empty so that visitors can still get a sense of the dock structure.
