Multipurpose building on the riverbank
Centro Cultural, Viana do Castelo (PT)
Commissioned by the northern Portuguese town of Viana do Castelo, Eduardo Souto de Moura has constructed a cultural centre along the bank of the Limia River. The three-storey building comprises a multipurpose hall measuring some 4,000 square metres in area and 12 metres in height which is surrounded by wooden stands. The ground floor is almost entirely glazed, allowing views in and out of the building from the surrounding area.
