Opening up new worlds

Geberit apprentices in Cambodia

In its social project for 2019, Geberit supported the renovation and construction of two schools in Cambodia. This provided around 1,500 school children and 50 teachers with access to clean drinking water and new sanitary installations.

The rural population in Cambodia is still suffering from the wars that ravaged the country for decades. Much of the infrastructure – particularly the schools – is in poor condition. In collaboration with Geberit South East Asia, Geberit planned and realised the renovation and construction of classrooms and staffrooms as well as the sanitary installations.

Broadening horizons
Encouraging young people and opening their eyes to other cultures, languages and worlds through their work in a newly industrialised country is one of the goals of the Geberit social projects with apprentices which have been taking place since 2008. In November 2019, a team of ten Geberit apprentices from different professions travelled to Cambodia with a technical manager and a coach to put in some hard work.

«It was amazing to see with just how little the children in Cambodia are happy. Sometimes, all it takes is a smile, a hug, or simply the unspoken bond in letting them hold your hand.»
