International power

A go-to BIM team

The three specialists see Geberit Duofix frames, fittings and cisterns as nothing but digital 3D models. This is no surprise – after all, Geberit experts Anja, Spyridon and Crispin create these models for use in Building Information Modelling (or BIM, for short). For planners, BIM is the current buzzword for all things related to digital building planning. When it comes to BIM, Geberit is now setting the standard.

At the moment, there are very few BIM experts well-versed in the creation, preparation and application of BIM data families. Geberit brought in three of these experts to work in the international team at the company’s headquarters in Jona (CH) – Anja Janssen from Switzerland, Spyridon Louziotis from Greece and Crispin Webb from South Africa.

“It was hard to find the right experts to implement our technologically challenging strategy, which is why it is all the more satisfying to say that we have succeeded,” says Werner Trefzer, Head of Technical Documentation at Geberit. Since 2018, Spyridon Louziotis has been looking after the coordination of the BIM@Geberit project. The qualified surveyor and civil engineer has a Master’s degree in Geographical Information Science and studied at ETH Zurich (CH), meaning he is no stranger to working at the interface between business and technology.

Practically minded

Crispin Webb previously worked at Geberit South Africa, where he established the BIM concept. “As a specialist, I was responsible for the Autodesk Revit planning software. This meant that I prepared the BIM data for the local market and was the point of contact for the sanitary engineers,” says Crispin Webb. “Crispin combines the theoretical side of our work with the practical. He knows how to create BIM data and how it is used by sanitary engineers,” says a satisfied Werner Trefzer.

As a qualified draughtsman, Anja Janssen now works at Geberit as BIM engineer and prepares the product data for new products. Once she has completed this task, this data will be made available to sanitary engineers as 2D/3D models in various formats.

A good combination

With the right specialists on board, progress is quickly being made at Geberit. The Geberit BIM Catalogue plug-in for Autodesk® Revit® is just one of the innovations launched.
